Prayer for the month

Dear Family,

The Lord has never measured generosity the way the world does. We look at the size of a gift, but God looks at the heart behind it. He isn't impressed by abundance that costs us nothing, but He delights in willing hearts that trust Him enough to give, even when it requires faith. Every blessing we have has first come from His hand, and He invites us to become faithful stewards rather than owners of what He's entrusted to us.

When we give with joy, we're reflecting the very heart of our Father. He gave His only begotten Son freely for us, not reluctantly or grudgingly, but out of perfect love. Every act of generosity becomes an opportunity to imitate Christ and to demonstrate that our treasure is in Heaven rather than on Earth.

​

 

2 Corinthians 9:6-8

"6 But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. 7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work."

Sometimes we hesitate to give because we don't think we have enough. We compare our little with someone else's abundance and think our offering couldn't matter. Yet Jesus taught something different. As many wealthy people cast large sums into the treasury, He noticed one poor widow who gave only two small mites. To everyone else, her gift seemed insignificant, but to Jesus it was the greatest offering of all because she gave from her need while others gave from their excess.

Our Father sees every sacrifice that no one else notices. He knows when your gift requires trust. He knows when your generosity means denying yourself so that someone else can be blessed. Never believe that your offering is too small for God to use. The King of Heaven measures faithfulness, not figures. Also, if the Lord has greatly blessed you, do you still only give out of your abundance? Out of your excess? Or do you give the portion that you would've used? The one that made you inconvenienced? The one that hurt you but blessed the one in need greatly?

Mark 12:42-44

"42 And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing. 43 And He called unto Him His disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury: 44 For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living."

​

 

The Lord calls us to remember those who are in need. His heart is continually turned toward the poor, the widow, the fatherless, and the stranger. When we open our hands to those who can't repay us, we're honoring the God who has been endlessly merciful to us. We may never know the eternal impact of a meal provided, a bill paid, or a burden lifted in Jesus' name, but Heaven keeps perfect record.

Our generosity is never wasted when it's offered in love. God has a way of multiplying what passes through open hands. As we open our hands instead of holding on tight, He continues to provide exactly what is needed for every good work.

​

 

Proverbs 19:17

"He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will He pay him again."

​

 

Giving is not about earning God's favor, because Christ has already secured that through His finished work on the cross. Rather, giving is an act of worship. It's a declaration that we trust God more than our possessions. It loosens the grip that money can have on our hearts and reminds us that every good and perfect gift comes from above.

​

So give with joy, dear family. Give without fear. Give knowing that your Father sees every quiet act of kindness and every unseen sacrifice. Whether your offering is great or small in the eyes of the world, let it be rich in faith. May our lives be marked by generous hearts that mirror the compassion of Christ, always ready to lend to the poor, to bless those in need, and to glorify the One who has given us everything.

Luke 6:38

"Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again."
